The FRSL is a British Indian novelist and essayist, Sir Ahmed Salman Rushdie (born 19 June 1947). He won the 1981 Booker Prize and was known on two separate occasions as the "Best Novel of Every Year" on his second novel, Midnight's Children (1981) to mark the 25th and 40th anniversaries of the prize.
