How tall is Sam Elliott?
Big, lean, wiry Sam Elliott is the American cowboy's classic image. Elliott began his stage acting career, and his film debut was in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969). While Katharine Ross, his future wife, co-starred in the film, the two did not meet until they filmed The Legacy (1978) together. There would be few chances over the years to perform in western films, but it would be television that gave him the chance, among others, in The Sacketts (1979), The Shadow Riders (1982) and The Yellow Rose (1983). As in Lifeguard (1976) and Road House (1989), he will also work in non-westerns, usually as a tough man.
