Actress Eleanor McCoy's father Sanaa Lathan and producer Stan Lathan were born respectively in New York City and Los Angeles. She became totally involved in the film world during her childhood, and realized early on that she desired a future in the arts. Sanaa taught at Berkeley University of California where she was awarded a BA, and at Yale School of Drama where she was awarded an MFA. Sanaa began her career by conducting stage productions in New York. She finally moved to California where she made numerous TV appearances, before appearing in Drive for her first movie role.
