Sean Brian Gilder (born 1 March 1964) is an English playwright, film and screen actor. Gilder was born in Scotland, in Brampton, Cumberland. He is best known from 2005 through 2010 for his depiction of Paddy Maguire on Shameless, and as Styles on Hornblower.He has appeared in Doctor Who (as the Sycorax Leader), as well as New Tricks, New York Gangs, and King Arthur, the 2004 film. He had been one of the journalists in Mike Bassett: England Manager. Gilder quit Shameless after series 7, according to The Sun newspaper, with the cause being speculated to be his poor friendship with actress Tina Malone, who played on screen wife of his character, Mimi.
