Years before Bea Arthur, Estelle Getty and company turned up in television homes in the 80s, Hollywood already had its own first "Golden Doll" ... practically ... in the form of talented British actress Shirley Eaton. While she achieved definite cult stardom in a certain "007" film in 1964 with her final golden moment, Shirley was hardly treated as a "overnight hit". She'd been out and about uplifting a number of British romantic films and slapstick farce from the 1950s and early 1960s for almost a decade. Shirley was quite an globally sought-after star, but by the end of the decade, the dark-browed blonde bombshell deliberately bade Hollywood a fond and lasting farewell to her acting career. She never looked again.
