Waylon Albright Jennings (born May 19, 1979) is an American rapper, songwriter, drummer, and record producer, professionally performing as Shooter Jennings. He has been involved since 1996, the only son of country music artists Waylon Jennings and Jessi Colter, producing seven albums and several EP's. He has also made several film appearances and cameos. Jennings is involved mainly in the outlaw country and the genres of Southern rock. There are two separate stories of how he was given his nickname "Shooter." His mother referenced her, and Waylon Jennings ' parents, passion for Western culture and western art to inspire the gun-derived name. Yet his father said he came up with the name after the child sprayed a nurse minutes after the infant emerged from his mother's womb, before someone could put on his first diaper. "I love my mom," Jennings says, "but I like the story of Dad more. And I guess, that's true. He didn't make [things] that way up.
