Stephen Patrick David Gately (17 March 1976 – 10 October 2009) was an Irish rock singer-songwriter, actress, children's writer, and dancer who, along with Ronan Keating, was co-lead singer of the music group Boyzone. All of Boyzone's studio albums during Gately's career reached number one in the UK, their third becoming their most successful globally. Gately has a record-breaking sixteen straight singles getting into the top five of the UK Singles Chart for Boyzone. Globally, he'd played for millions of people. After the initial break-up of the party, which charted top ten in the UK, he released a solo album in 2000, producing three UK hit singles including the number three hit "New Beginning"
