After 3 years of training at Arts Educational Schools in London, Stephen became an actor in 1984; he spent the first six months of his career visiting London parks and schools in "Robin Hood & The Tree Trick," followed by his first movie role as Moose in the "My Beautiful Laundrette" cult film.He joined the cast of fledgling sitcom "Birds of a Feather" as Dave, Sharon's boyfriend (Pauline Quirke) after a few years working in Theater, Commercials and supporting roles on TV. He was in 2 episodes initially but had such an impression with the viewers that he was bought back for the third season.
