Steve Forrest was born to William Forrest Andrews in Huntsville, Texas, the youngest of thirteen children of Annis (Speed) and Charles Forrest Andrews, a Baptist pastor, a ruggedly attractive action star of the 1960s and 1970s. His nephew was playwright Dana Andrews. Forrest began his film career with MGM as a minor part contract player.Steve left the U.S. in 1942. Army, advanced to sergeant level, and saw service in the Bulge Campaign. He visited his brother in Hollywood after his demobilization and came to the realization that acting wasn't a bad way to make a living (because he had already done some research as an extra movie).
