Susan Lucci was born on 23 December 1946 to Jeanette (Granquist) and Victor Lucci, a building manager, in Scarsdale, New York. She is of descent from Italian (father) and from Swedish, German, and French (mother). Susan was born in Garden City. She tried to be a dancer as she can remember, so she took singing lessons, dance classes, so engaged in community theater, during her teenage years. She was the perfect student in high school: she took several honors courses, became a cheerleader, a staff writer for the school newspaper, was a student in international exchange in Norway and appeared in school musicals, including lead roles in "Oklahoma" and "The King and I."
