Tammy Lee Grimes was an American actress and musician (January 30, 1934 – October 30, 2016). In her career, she received two Tony Awards, the first for originating Molly Tobin's part in the musical The Unsinkable Molly Brown and the second for acting as Amanda Prynne in a 1970 Private Lives revival. Christopher Plummer, a former partner, and their friend, actress Amanda Plummer, are also Tony Award recipients. She originated the role of Diana in the California Suite Broadway production. Maggie Smith, who won an Oscar for her performance, has played the part of Diana in the film. Grimes played Elmire's part in Tartuffe's Television and Broadway production in 1978.
