Tim Robbins, who was born in West Covina, California but raised in New York City, is the son of former Highwaymen star Gil Robbins and actress Mary Robbins (born Bledsoe). Robbins studied acting at UCLA where, in 1981, he graduated with honours. That same year, he founded the Gang Theater group of actors, an artistic company sharing radical political views.
