How tall was Tony Curtis?
Tony Curtis was born Bernard Schwartz, the youngest of three Helen (Klein) and Emanuel Schwartz, Hungarian Jewish immigrants. Curtis himself acknowledges that although he had virtually no formal schooling, he was a product of the "school of hard knocks" and he knew at a young age that the only one who ever held his back was himself. When his career progressed, Curtis continued to perform in socially important films that would confront audiences, so he began to feature in movies like Spartacus (1960) and The Defiant Ones (1958). He was told not to pose as the junior sidekick in Spartacus (1960), playing second fiddle to the Kirk Douglas, who is equally successful.
