Tyra Lynne Banks (born 4 December 1973), also known as BanX, is an American television host, writer, businesswoman, actress, poet, model, and sometimes rapper. Raised in Inglewood, California, at the age of 15, she set off her career as a model and became the first woman of African-American origin to be featured on GQ's covers and the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, on which she appeared three times. From 1997 to 2005 she was Victoria's Dark Star. Banks was among the top-earning designers in the world by the early 2000s.
