Michael Valentine Doonican (February 3, 1927-July 1, 2015) was an Irish singer of traditional rock, easy listening, and novelty music, noted for his dry, friendly voice.A crooner, he enjoyed mainstream popularity, particularly in the United Kingdom where in the 1960s he had five consecutive Top 10 albums and many hits on the UK Singles Chart including "If the Whole World Stopped Lovin'," "Walk High" and "Elusive Butterfly". The Val Doonican Series, which featured his music and a number of celebrities, had a long and popular run on BBC Television from 1965 to 1986 and three times received the Abc-TV Personality of the Year award from the Variety Club of Great Britain
