Striking, light complexioned, blonde English actress who is best known as the female lead in many Hammer horror films from the late 1960s. Such roles include as the hapless Maria terrorized by fanged Christopher Lee in Dracula Has Risen from the Grave (1968), brutalized by the wicked Peter Cushing in Frankenstein Must Be Killed (1969) and chased by alien David Prowse in The Horror of Frankenstein (1970). Following her short appearance in a couple of Hammer movies, Carlson's fame fell as soon as it had grown, but as one of the beautiful actresses that graced the screen during Hammer's marvelous revival in the horror genre, she had secured herself a spot in horror film history.
