Virginia Gardner was born on 18 April 1995, in Sacramento, California, to Virginia Elizabeth Gardner. She attended Country Day School in Sacramento until Grade eighth. When she moved to Los Angeles in 2011, she attended online learning and then decided to take the California High School Graduation Test. In October 2011, she tried the examination, and passed the exam. During her initial period, Virginia stayed with her mother but once she began to get acting opportunities, she moved into her own apartment and started living independently. Gardner made her first film appearance on the Lab Rats (2012) of the Disney Channel channel.
