Zach Galifianakis was born to Mary Frances (Cashion), who owned a cultural arts centre, and Harry Galifianakis, a hot oil seller in Wilkesboro, North Carolina. His father is of Greek origin, and his mother has mainly English and Scottish ancestry. Zach has transferred to New York City after missing one point of his last college class. Zach got his start selling his funny brand in the back of a Times Square hamburger restaurant. He toured the world, performing at universities and coffee shops. Zach broke through to broader recognition with his co-starring role as "Alan Garner" in the comedy mega-hit, The Hangover (2009), after more than a decade doing stand-up and making numerous television and film appearances.
