August Anthony Alsina Jr. (born September 3, 1992) is a New Orleans-born American recording artist, signed to Def Jam Records. He's best known for his Trinidad James song, "I Luv This Shit." He released his debut studio album, Testimony, on April 15, 2014. Alsina was born in louisiana, New Orleans. He attended New Orleans Middle School. Though no one in his family was musically inclined, Lauryn Hill in Sister Act 2 encouraged him to sing. Alsina first posted videos to YouTube at age 14 in 2007, starting with a cover of Lyfe Jennings' "Hypothetically."
