How tall was David Niven?
James David Graham Niven was an English actor, memoirist and novelist, from 1 March 1910 to 29 July 1983. Squadron leader Peter Carter in A Matter of Life and Death, Phileas Fogg in Around the World in 80 Days and Sir Charles Lytton ("the Phantom") in The Pink Panther were among his many roles. His performance in Separate Tables (1958) won the Academy Award for Best Actor.Niven was born in London and attended Heatherdown Preparatory School and Stowe School before obtaining a place in Sandhurst, the Royal Military College. He entered the British Army after Sandhurst, and was commissioned in the Highland Light Infantry as a second lieutenant. He had developed an interest in acting, left the army, moved to Hollywood, and had several minor film roles.
