Dorothy Ford was born in Perris, California, April 4, 1922, and raised in San Francisco and Santa Barbara, and Tucson, Arizona. She participated in several pageants during college, and then went into modeling after graduation. Standing 6'2 "and weighing 38-26-38-1/2, she was a great work for the portraits. Her first role came in San Francisco where Billy Rose and Johnny Weissmuller cast her in his "Aquacade" and she was a showgirl from Earl Carroll who starred in numerous publications including "Everything to Shout About" and "Star Spangled Glamour." In Lady in the Dark (1944), Ford attracted the eye of casting agencies and made her film debut as a model.
