Gabe Kaplan was born in Brooklyn, New York, USA, on 31 March 1945. He is an author and writer, known for Welcome Back, Kotter (1975), Lewis & Clark (1981) and Fast Break (1979).His early 1960s experiences as a student in an undergraduate class (like the Sweathogs) formed the basis for Welcome Back, Kotter (1975). Was a presenter on ESPN in 1997 along with Phil Hellmuth for the first outdoor World Series of Poker.
