The film career of Lucas started by chance in 1979 when a small Canadian movie filmed on the tiny coastal island of South Carolina, Sullivan's Island, where Lucas and his family lived. Unknown to the directors, Lucas, 8, was hiding in the sand dunes watching shooting during the climatic scene where young lovers are locked in a lovesick fight.It was after this period that Lucas wanted to follow a film career he's doing for almost 3 decades now. Formed in 1971 to young progressive politically activist parents in Arkansas, Lucas spent his early childhood wandering nomadically across the South of the United States. The family arrived eventually at Gig Harbor, Washington, where Lucas attended high school.
