Kevin Mitnick is a well-known American computer security consultant, hacker, and author. He gained notoriety in the 1990s for his hacking exploits and was once considered one of the most wanted computer criminals in the United States. Mitnick was skilled in social engineering, which involves manipulating people to gain unauthorized access to computer systems and sensitive information. In 1995, Mitnick was arrested and charged with various computer-related crimes, including wire fraud and unauthorized access to computer systems. He spent five years in prison for his actions. During his time behind bars, he was subject to restrictive conditions, which prohibited him from accessing computers or the internet. After his release from prison, Kevin Mitnick turned his life around and became a computer security consultant. He founded Mitnick Security Consulting LLC, which provides services to businesses and organizations to help them identify and address security vulnerabilities in their computer systems. Mitnick also became an author, writing books about computer security and his experiences as a hacker. Sadly he passed away on July 16, 2023.
