Michael John Kells Fleetwood (born 24 June 1947) is a British guitarist and actor, best known as the Fleetwood Mac rock band's drummer, co-founder, and de facto leader. In 1998 Fleetwood was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, his nickname was combined with that of bassist John "Mac" McVie of the group to create the band's name. Raised in Redruth, Cornwall, Fleetwood lived for most of his childhood years in Egypt and Norway while his father flew with the Royal Air Force. Choosing to pursue his musical interests, at the age of 15, Fleetwood moved to London, ultimately joining with Peter Green, Jeremy Spencer, and Bob Brunning to form the first Fleetwood Mac incarnation at Green's behest.
