Sir Raymond Douglas Davies, CBE (born 21 June 1944) is an English guitarist, composer and songwriter. He is the Kinks lead singer, rhythm guitarist, and primary songwriter, whom he leads along with his younger brother, Dave. He has also been acting, directing, and producing theater and television programs. From 1962–63 Davies was an art student at London's Hornsey College of Art. He was deeply involved in music at the end of 1962; at a Hornsey College Christmas party he was taking guidance from Alexis Korner who performed with Blues Incorporated at the party, and Korner introduced him to Giorgio Gomelsky, a promoter and future manager of the Yardbirds.
