Steve Austin (born Steven James Anderson; later Steven James Williams, 18 December 1964), best known by the ring name Stone Cold Steve Austin, is an American actor, author, television personality, and former professional wrestler. Between 1991 to 1995 Austin had a prosperous career in World Championship Wrestling (WCW) as "Stunning" Steve Austin. He signed with the World Wrestling Federation (WWF, now WWE) as The Ringmaster following a short run with Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) with late 1995. Rebranded the following year as Steve Austin's "Stone Cold," he gained considerable notoriety as a shameless, rude, beer-drinking antihero who regularly insulted the system and its boss, Vince McMahon, chairman of the company.
