How tall was David Hedison?
Raised in Providence, Rhode Island, the elder son of Albert and Rose Hedison, Albert David Hedison Jr. naturalized Armenian residents of the U.S .. His father owned a company in enameling jewelry and his son was supposed to follow in his footsteps. Young Al had other thoughts after seeing Tyrone Power on the projector in Blood and Sand (1941), having set his sights on an acting career. He enrolled at Brown University after finishing compulsory service in the navy (as a Seaman 2nd Class, serving on decommissioned warships in mothballing). He entered the Community Playhouse School in Manhattan three years later, and practiced acting under Sanford Meisner. He subsequently received additional study with iconic Lee Strasberg at Actor's Studio.
